We had a plan. We were planning on waiting three years before having a baby. It was a good plan... during those three years we would get everything in order, pay off bills and buy a house. In fact, we even told our parents that every time they mentioned babies we'd add a month, something that was pretty common because we were already up to 4 years.
It was a good plan but on Halloween 2009, it went down the drain.

That's the day that Lindsay took the test and found out that we were expecting. The next day she told me... and within a few hours we had let our parents in on the big news. Starting that day it was a new game, with a new plan. God's plan.
Sure we've got some anxieties. We're renting what we call the Fisher Price house (it's a little small), we still have debt to pay off, and we're both a little apprehensive about caring for a brand new life. Heck, Sally (our chocolate lab) can virtually take care of herself. It's crazy to think about how fragile a new life is and working in the news business I get to see plenty of examples of folks that haven't done it so well-- from those who've given up on their troubled teens to the guy who left his infant at home while he was at the bar.
Linday and I, however, know that we love each other and are so very excited about little Jelly Bean (that's what we've nicknamed her, for now-- because she was once about that size (and in case you noticed, I'm pretty sure it's a girl, but we find out for sure next month)). We believe that this is God's plan and even if things aren't all in place now, we're so glad that we've got this chance. We know how many people struggle to get pregnant... and I've been through a number of miscarriages.
We can't believe that we've only got 6 months until little Jelly Bean is here. I'm sure it will go fast and hopefully we'll be ready. Ready or not, right?
Until then Lindsay is getting cuter and cuter will her little tummy growing. Plus, I even got to feel the baby kick last week. It's becoming more and more real to us.
